Obituary of Gabriel Guerrero

Our Beloved Gabriel Guerrero, age 53, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Gabriel was a Purchaser with the Finance Department with the City of Austin for over 27 years. He also worked for AISD and GM catering.

In his youth, Gabriel, served as an altar boy with Dolores Catholic Church where he later served as a Youth Teacher. He was a great athlete who had a passion for all sports. He coached a Little League Baseball Team for Montopolis for years. He was an avid collector of Baseball Cards, $2 Bills, Coins and his children’s school T-Shirts.

Above all, Gabriel was a loving family man who especially cared for his parents. He was a devoted husband and father who never missed a single one of his children’s’ games although he got kicked out of 60% of them for “coaching the coach”. It goes without saying, he will be deeply missed by all.

Gabriel was preceded in death by his father and mother in law, Alfred and Simona Cortinas.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years Sandy Guerrero; parents Isidro and Manuela Guerrero; daughters, Gabriela (Oscar Solis) Guerrero and Cassandra Guerrero; son Gabriel (Briana) Guerrero Jr.; granddaughters Aubrielle and Viviana; grandsons, Miguel, Gabriel Adam, and Luis; brothers, Gerardo (Irma), Gustavo, German (Vanessa), and Gilbert (Nidia); sisters, Griselda (Alonzo) and Gloriana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. immediately followed by Moments of Reflection on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas 78745.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at San Francisco de Asis Episcopal Church, 7000 Woodhue Dr., Austin, Texas 78745. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
