Obituary of Rebecca Ann Baltierra

Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Rebecca Ann Baltierra, age 34, of Austin, Texas, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 18, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Teofilo and Guadalupe Maldonado and Santos and Josephine Cervantes and her mother and father-in-law, Refugio and Trinidad Baltierra; .

Rebecca was born in Austin, Texas, June 12, 1983; one of three daughters born to David and Beatrice Maldonado.  When she was young she entertained her family and community by preforming on stage, covering Selena.  She grew up on the East Side, graduating Johnston High School; playing softball throughout high school. Upon graduation, she attended St. Edward's University, earning her Associate's Degree with a focus on education.  In 2004, she met the love of her life, Ruben.  They married in 2006, and she became a military wife and a step-mom to Gabriel.  Together, they traveled the world and were stationed in several different states and countries.  They also had two children, Lorelai, now 10 years old, and Jax, now 4 years old.  She ran marathons; loved to cook, and loved to shop...shoes being one of her favorite things to shop.  She loved reading, running, and country music. She enjoyed the beauty of flowers with white roses and hydrangeas being her favorite.  She held firm in her faith and when diagnosed with cancer, often remarked that she didn't know why this was God's plan, but that she would accept it with faith in him and strength provided by him.  She loved being a wife and a mother.  Those who knew her, knew a beautiful spirit and will miss her dearly.

Rebecca is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, Ruben Baltierra; her daughter, Lorelai Reese Baltierra, son, Jax Rayden Baltierra, and step-son, Gabriel Richard Baltierra; her parents, David and Beatrice Maldonado; sisters, Leticia “Letty” (Daniel Arzola) and Amanda (David) Lucio; and nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

The Baltierra Family is honored to have Daniel Arzola, Ryan Arzola, David Lucio, Henry Rocha, Hector Baltierra, and Sophia Gabriella Baltierra serve as Pallbearers.
