Obituary of Robert Jesse Capuchino
Robert Jesse "Momo" Capuchino passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 in Austin, Texas at the age of 65.
Robert is survived by his children, Sandra Capuchino Venegas and Robert Capuchino, Jr.; father, Gustavo "Buster" Capuchino; brothers, Buster (Lupe) Capuchino, David (Yolanda) Capuchino, Ray (Diana) Capuchino and sister, Christina (Armando "Tanner" Martinez) Capuchino; his beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous other family members. He is preceded in death by his mother, Janie Capuchino, and nephew, Dominic David Capuchino.
Robert was born on January 16, 1952 in Austin, Texas to Buster and Janie Capuchino. He was proud to be a native Austinite and, most importatnly to him, a lifelong resident of East Austin. Growing up, Robert was active in his community, serving as an altar boy and member of the CYO at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. He showed off his athletic abilities as a member of the East Austin Warriors flag football team and Capuchino's softball team, as well during many pickup football, baseball and basketball games throughout the neighborhood. Robert graduated from A.S. Johnston High School and was proud to be a Johnston Ram. He retired as a program supervistor at the Metz/Martin Recreation Cemter in the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department after more than 27 years of service. He also served as a volunteer commissioner for the Greater East Austin Youth League for over 18 years. Robert enjoyed serving as a mentor/coach to many in the East Austin Community and loved sharing his passion for his Longhorns, Cowboys, and Yankees with family and friends. His favorite activity was hanging out with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed!
Visitation will be Monday, August 21, beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home – East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2215 E. 2nd St. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery. All whose lilves were touched by Robert are welcome to join his family in celebrating his life.
