Obituary of Jesus Jose Cruz

Our beloved Jesus Jose Cruz, age 75 of Uvalde Texas, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday August 5, 2017, in Austin, Texas.

Jesse came to Austin in 1962 to attend the University of Texas where he met Irma Guerra who would later become his wife. Irma had studied Ballet and Flamenco in her teen years and came to Austin to study at a business college. They both met at a dance at the old Municipal Auditorium where he was a saxophone player in a band. Irma caught his eye and asked her to dance. They were married a year later in 1964. In 1965, Mark Anthony Cruz was born the only child of Irma and Jesse.

Jesse worked for Farmers Insurance Company for nearly 30 years and Irma worked for the Federal Government for 34 years. Jesse was a caring and loving person who helped all family members with anything they needed. He helped Irma's brothers while they attended the University of Texas in the 1960's and 1970's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Rita Cruz.

Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Irma Guerra Cruz, and his loving son, Mark Cruz.

Jesse was inspired by learning and the pursuit of knowledge. He was a good provider, husband of 53 years and a great father. His kindness and sincerity will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by a Scripture Service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Mission Funeral Home -South Side located at 6204 South First Street, Austin, Texas.
