To Everard's family,
I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. Everard was always smiling and cordial, saying "hello", "good morning" and asking "how are you?" while in the office at work. Although I never worked directly with him, I appreciate him being so personal and friendly to me and others. He truly was a ray of sunshine when we had our brief exchanges while passing in the hallway almost on a daily basis. I will miss him and his kind demeanor. Please know that he touched many in a positive way...
With sincere sympathy and condolences,
Tom Bruechert

Mr. Quintanilla always introduced himself as Everard and was about as friendly and empathetic as anyone could imagine as an investigator for the US DOL. As a small non-profit, we have had relatively few dealings with regulatory and investigative agencies, so when the US DOL comes knocking you get nervous and panicky and you are not even sure why you feel that way. However, Mr. Quintanilla was immediately disarming, intuitive and informative, providing the facts, details and guidance we needed to assist. He recognized our novice nature, but commitment to service, and helped us to understand context and find answers to our questions and concerns. He made us feel collaborative in working through the issues and we are a much better organization for the way he conducted his business with us. I imagine that is really how the US DOL or any regulatory agency wants to be perceived. I always called him Mr. Quintanilla (I practiced to say his name well), but I knew he would not mind me calling him Everard. I have an eleven year old son I would share about on occasion when we talked and I know that he has a daughter that he loved dearly and cherished the time he spent with her. She was precious to him and in his thoughts. I can earnestly say that I had looked forward to the official business being done, so that I could call him Everard and get to know him better. I feel we would have been good long-time friends. So, to “my good friend” Everard, thank you for the legacy of our relationship. You were appreciated and will be sorely missed.

My wife and I met Everard in 01/2012 when we attend training for the Department of Labor. We hung out together in St. Petersburg, FL. He was an extremely happy man who loved life. He often talked of Guam and told me how proud he was of his daughter. We wish his family well, and offer our sincerest of condolences.

Eric went to college with us at the University of Oregon, so he was a fellow duck. He will always be remembered for his humor, kindness, and loyalty. When we were at the U of O, we could always count on him to be a friend. We hope that his daughter and the rest of the family take comfort in knowing that he will be remembered fondly by us. May his soul rest in peace.
