Obituary of Deacon Romeo C. Sanchez

Our beloved father, Deacon Romeo C. Sánchez, age 84, resident of Austin, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, April 21, 2017. He was born August 21, 1932 in McAllen, Texas. He proudly served his Country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran. He also served Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as the Austin Community, as a Deacon with San Jose Catholic Church for many years.

Deacon Sánchez was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Rachel Sánchez; and his sister Alma Brockway (Don) of Applecity, Missouri. He is survived by his children Elsie Saenz (Baldemar) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Shirley Sánchez of Austin, Texas, Arlene Rodriguez (Robert) of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Anna Sánchez (Katrina Pruitt) of Austin, Texas;  5 grandchildren,  13 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; brother Noe Sánchez (Minnie) of McAllen, Texas.

Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Baldemar Saenz and Robert Rodriguez; grandson-in-law, Oscar Rodriguez; grandsons, David Rivera and Robert Rodriguez II; and nephew, Robert Salas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery with Air Force Honors.
