Our beloved Sarah Mercado, age 75, resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete Gamez and Sally Gil Sanchez; adoptive parents, Johnny and Sara Mercado; step-father, Pete Sanchez; her great-granddaughter, Mireya Tijerina; brothers, Raymond Gamez and Daniel Gamez; sister-in-law, Gertrude Gamez, and son-in-law, Matthew Brock.
Sarah is survived by her children, Mary Calderon, Rosary (Henry) Arellano, Guadalupe (Maria) Calderon, Jr., Deborah (Christopher) Alvarez, and Cenobia (Javed) Rana; her brother, Jimmy (Carol) Mercado, sister, Yolanda (George) Taylor; sister-in-law, Cecelia Gamez; 15 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren (and one on the way), one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 East Ninth St., Austin, Texas. Services will conclude following Mass.
