Our Beloved Jose “Joe” Antonio Zavala, age 101, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Mr. Zavala proudly served our country in the United States Army and is a WWII veteran. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Maria Socorro Zavala; his son, Louis Zavala; his parents, Zeferino and Monica Zavala; his brothers, Leobrado Zavala, Elias Zavala, and Issac Zavala, and his sister, Juana Zavala Nunez. Mr. Zavala is survived by his beloved children, Ruben Zavala and his wife, Dora, and Elma Zavala Espinosa, and her husband, Ruben; his precious grandchildren, Christopher Zavala and his wife, Leticia, John P. Espinosa, Veronica M. Espinosa, and Vincent E. Espinosa; his siblings, Frances Zavala Padilla, Angel Zavala, and Sara Zavala Delgado; as well as numerous other loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 5:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South First St., Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
