Our Beloved Herminio Cantu Gomez, Sr., age 78, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 7, 2017, in Austin, Texas. He was born on April 25, 1938, in Cedar Creek, Texas. Herminio worked for the City of Austin, for more than 20 years. He loved spending time with his family, going on vacation, and fishing. He was known as the Brisket King to his family, because of his love of barbecuing. He will fondly be remembered for his love of music, watching both western shows, and the news. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Dolores Cantu; his sisters, Theresa Gomez Rangel and Jesusa Gomez; and his brothers, Luciano and Delfino Gomez. Herminio is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Irene Sanchez Gomez; his children, Herminio and his wife, Angie Gomez Jr., Susie her husband, Jose Luis Garcia; Tina and her husband, Johnny Villela, and Billy John and his wife, Mary Alice Sanchez; his beloved grandchildren, Shawn Lee Gomez, Christopher Lee Gomez, John Jacob D. Gomez, Pamela Marie D. Gomez, Steven Davila Gomez, Gilbert Garcia, Greg Garcia, Luis II, Gracie Valadez, Susie Canela, Johnny Villela Jr., Stephanie Sosa, Lauryn Sanchez, Richard Sanchez, Anthony Sanchez, and Ernestina Sanchez; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Antonia Gomez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7 p.m., and Funeral Services to begin at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel.
