Obituary of Mary Frances Aguallo

Please share a memory of Mary Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frances passed away December 28, 2016 into the arms of our Heavenly Father and His divine family. She was blessed to be lovingly surrounded in her home by her family and friends.

Frances was the granddaughter of Joe, Sr. and Francisca Sing. Joe Sing, Sr. (Jo Feng Sheng) was born in China in 1860. He immigrated to the United States settling in Austin, Texas in 1890. With Frances’ passing this closes the Sing legacy.

Frances lost her mother when she was six. She was raised by her grandmother, Francisca and it was through this relationship she learned the strong work ethic and indelible faith that she would instill in her own family; and would follow her through her last hour.

She had a way of bestowing confidence, self-worth, and a sense of rootedness in others. She was always and forever an influencer; encouraging, exhorting, or urging others towards faith and obedience to Christ. She prayed relentlessly for her daughters, grandson, and others who exhibit the fruit of her prayers.

She showed her love to everyone and always welcomed them into her home.

She demonstrated an insurmountable amount of faith in God and La Virgen de Guadalupe. She was a teacher of virtues such as humility, compassion, and forgiveness. She never went a day without saying, “Reza a Dios y a la Virgen que te ayude.” I believe this to be her life message which brought strength and courage, and most importantly hope to her family and friends.

Through her faith and her loving husband she was able to accomplish all of her dreams.

During her personal trials and crisis in her lifetime, she acknowledged her shortcomings and prayed for direction, correction, and forgiveness. One of her sayings was, “I am not a gold coin where everyone is going to like me.”

Frances was the quiet at the center of the storm; the anchor of the family. She was the rock and foundation of their lives. She was a shining example of the love and faith that always sustained her. She knew this day was coming, but she did not fear it. She knew of God’s divine plan and that He would take care of her and her dear ones. Her belief was where there is life there is hope until your last breath. She was a source of strength and comfort, and she accepted God’s invitation. Her feet were firmly planted on the solid rock of the Holy Scriptures.

Frances was most proud that she was able to gift the Sing family papers and history of their legacy to the Austin History Center on October 30, 2007.

Frances always ended her conversations, “…life goes on.”

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Manuel G. Aguallo; her parents, Guadalupe Laguna and Senovia Sing; her 3 siblings, Guadalupe Laguna II, Jesse Laguna, and Roberta Theresa Laguna Phipps.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Maria Teresa Aguallo and Anna Maria Aguallo; her grandson, Raul Aguallo Hernandez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
