Our Beloved Francisco “Frank” Flores, age 81, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Zoila Flores. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Petra Colunga Flores; his children, Rosalinda Hernandez, Aurorita (Michael) Ibarra, Frank (Carrie) Flores, Jr., Norma (John) Lopez, Jon (Denise) Flores, Andrea (Detrick Howard) Flores, and Fernando (Gilda) Flores; his sisters, Mickey Reynolds and Esmeralda Martinez; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Frank was born in Alice, Texas. Joining the Air Force at 17, he proudly served 23 years. Frank did two tours in Vietnam and had been stationed in Greenland, England, and numerous stateside assignments. He retired at Austin Bergstrom Air Force Base. Upon retiring from the service, he became a Deputy Constable for Travis County, retiring in 1997. He was an avid sportsman, excelling at softball, boxing, golf, horses, shooting, and even ping pong. Frank loved playing bingo, dancing and good conversation with family and friends. He grew a deep love for Conjunto music after being raised with legendary musicians such as Ruben Naranjo, Rene Joslin, and Chano Cadena, all from the Alice, Texas area. He would proudly say that he had attended the Conjunto Festival at Rosedale Park in San Antonio for 20 consecutive years. Pallbearers will be Fernando Flores, Frank Flores, Jr., Jon Flores, Mario Lee, Detrick Howard, Nathan Flores, Fernando Flores, Jr., and Frank Flores III. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 with Early Reading at 6:30 and Recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Visitation will be closed casket. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., September 9, 2016 at Assumption Cemetery Chapel with Military Honors.
