Our beloved Gilbert C. “Blackie” Garza, Sr., age 80, resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Stella R. Garza; his daughter, Lorraine Marie Garza Soto; his parents, Manuel Sanchez Garza, Sr. and Pearl Corpus Lozano; his brother, Manuel C. Garza, Jr. and sister, Alice Zapata.
Mr. Garza is survived by his loving children, Gilbert Garza, Jr., Kristine A. (Ray) Herrera, Carolyn Gonzales, Patsy (Noe) Ramos, and Salvador (Mary Ann) Ortiz; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and many other loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Zackary Garza, Joshua Herrera, Seth Herrera, Aaron Soto, Mark Soto, and Danny Salazar, Jr.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Monday, August, 8, 2016 with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
