Obituary of Genaro Garza

Our beloved Genaro “Gene” Garza, age 87, resident of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Raquel “Rachel” Garza; his daughter, Delma Tuner; his mother and father, German and Elena Garza; and his siblings, Francisco Garza, Natalio Garza, Guillermo Garza, and Paula Naranjo.
Genaro is survived by his children, Thelma (Lee) Polanco, Romeo (Rosie) Garza, and son-in-law, Don Turner; 10 beautiful grandchildren, Dr. Trace (Dr. Leticia) Polanco, Stephen (Moriah) Polanco, Andrea Garza, Stephanie (Patrick) Paver, Edward Ross (Vickie) Cortinas, Amy (Henry) Vargas, Paul (Paulina) Garza, Joseph Garza, Jonathan (Bea) Turner, and Jeffrey (Thu) Turner; 12 great-grandchildren, Calista Polanco, Cielo Polanco, Ruby Polanco, Cienna Polanco, Willie Paver, Ellie Paver, Joel Vargas, Markie Estrada, Edward Ross Cortinas, Jr., Joshua Turner, Madeleine Turner, and Luke Turner; his siblings, Benjamin “Bene” (Mary) Garza, Rudy (Dora) Garza, Diana Escobar, Robert (Linda) Garza, and Exiquio (Nidia) Garza; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016 with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 6:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1100 Main St., Buda, Texas. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
