Our beloved Catarina Cantu Machuca, age 96, resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Ricardo “Richard” Machuca; her daughter, Maria Herrera; her granddaughter, Catherine Pauline Pinon; her brothers, Crispin and Jesus Cantu; and one infant sister. Catarina retired from AISD and was a faithful parishioner at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, serving as the last member of the original Alter & Rosary Group and served for over 40 years. Mrs. Machuca is survived by her loving children, Manuel (Lucia) Machuca, Toribio “Toby” (Julia) Machuca, Virginia (Ricardo Rene) Ramos, Margaret Machuca, Juanita Machuca, and Juan “John” (Rosie) Machuca; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Santiago “Jim” Cantu and sister, Eva (Andres) Alcaraz; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Honored Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joseph Martin Machuca, Manuel David Machuca, Samuel Herrera, Jr.; her great grandsons, Ezra Rosales, Miguel Pinon IV, and Esai Herrera; and her dear family friend, Antonio Flores. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2016 with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 6:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2215 E 2nd St, Austin, TX 78702., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
