Obituary
Obituary of Louis Rey Palacios
Please share a memory of Louis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Louis Palacios, age 59, resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Hernandez.
Mr. Palacios is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Josie Palacios; his children, Anthony, Christina and Monica; his father, Luis M. Palacios; his sisters and brother, Cynthia Palacios, Estella (Rudy) De Los Santos, Mary (Robert) Santellana, Jesse (Karen) Palacios, and Henrietta (Johnny) Castillo; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Louis was born in Palacios, Tx, but moved to Victoria, Tx at an early age. He met the love of his life, Josie Garza, and they shared their life together for 36 years. He was especially proud of his three children: Anthony, Christina and Monica.
He learned so much from each one of them, that made him an excellent father. He volunteered tirelessly as a Boy Scout Patrol leader while Anthony journeyed to Eagle Scout. This taught him to enjoy the simple things in life, and to always be prepared. Watching Christina grow and eventually graduate from Rice University, with her degree in Mechanical Engineering, taught him the humble pride of a father, and that life truly knows no boundaries. Seeing Monica face life, become a strong young woman, and pursue her goals at Texas A&M, as his own health started to decline, gave him strength and commitment.
He worked for Velocity Express as a delivery services manager for 10 years. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 2002, and quickly earned his 4th Degree Membership. He served as Grand Knight of Council 10209, for 2 years.
The family wishes to thank the many medical professionals at St. David's South Austin for their professional, yet tender care of Louis during his many hospital admissions.
Thank you to Dr. Karon Simpson, Dr. Peter Miller, and the devoted staff at Satellite Dialysis Center.
Thank you to Dr. Carlos Romero, Kathy Kraft NP, Encompass Home Health, Dr. Thomas Hill, and St. David's Wound Care for their remarkable care of Louis during his battle with his various health issues.
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus Council 10209, for their unrelenting will to help whenever and however possible.
