Our beloved Martha Annie Smith Lane, age 85, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was intelligent, fiercely independent, and intensely compassionate. She was the matriarch, the strength and the glue that kept our family united. We will always remember her high-spirited and sparkling laughter, her creative hands that were always crafting, her love of reading (especially children's books), and her delicious cookies. She is at peace, we are thankful that her soul has been reunited with her loving husband W.H. "Herky"Lane. Martha is survived by her children, Pamela Sue Zeberg, Rebecca Annie Lane May, Mark Stephen Lane, and his wife Faith Williams Lane, and Brian David Lane; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, other family and friends. We will be forever grateful for the excellent care provided to her by Ulises Cornejo, her loyal caregiver for the past five years, as well as the RN's and CNA's at Colonial Gardens these past few months.
