Obituary of Charles Elliott
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Daniel Elliott (Chaz) was chosen by God to join Him on March 9, 2001 He was 33 years old.?My candle burns at both ends. It will not last the night. But, ah, my foes and oh, my friends. It gives a lovely light...?
Chaz was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on April 24, 1967. After a brief stint in college, Chaz decided to allow life?s experiences to be his teacher and his heart his guide. Chaz moved to Austin and decided to make it his home.
As a long-time bartender at ?Bout Time, Chaz quickly found and created an extended family. He is truly one of the few men that could literally claim to enter into a room with ?200 of his closest friends?. ?To know him was to love him? is a quote that could belong to Chaz; he was dearly loved because he truly accepted each person on an individual basis and he offered his friendship, kindness, and generosity unconditionally.
What we will miss most will be his gift of laughter. Chaz shared his talent of making people laugh and helped to raise thousands of dollars for community charities through benefits, shows and his infamous MUT pageant.
His dream was to one day own his own restaurant. He was an excellent cook and those of us that had the opportunity to eat one of his good, old-fashioned Louisiana meals now feel privileged for having done so.
Charlie, as he will be remembered by his beloved mother, is survived by his mother and stepfather, Louise and Robert Bond of Ohio, father, Daniel Elliott of Louisiana, sister Angela Pickering of Lousiana, sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Nathan Cox of Ohio, his closest friend, Roy Gonzalez, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, various relatives, and all the members of his extended family.
A memorial service will be held at Mission Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 13, at 2:00 P.M. Because he felt most at peace at the beach, Chaz?s ashes will be released at his favorite coast at a later date.
?Do not count my riches by the coins in my pocket, count them by the number of hearts I have touched. Do not count my life by the time spent on earth, but trust that I made each moment count...
