Obituary of Lucio Govea, Sr.

Our beloved Lucio Govea, Sr., age 83, resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. He was surrounded by his family and passed away peacefully.
Mr. Govea worked for the City of Austin for many years and retired from Decker Power Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents Epitacio and Juana Govea; his brothers and sisters; and his daughter-in-law, Sharon Govea.
Lucio is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Esperanza Rangel Govea; his children, Lucio Govea, Jr., Geneva (Oliva) Govea, Richard Govea, Jeanette Govea, Frankie Govea and his wife, Josie, Esther Govea, Dennis Govea and his wife, Connie, George Govea and his wife, Amanda, Frances Govea and her husband, William, and Joanna Govea; five grandchildren raised as his own, Paula, Mary Esther, Jessica, Joseph, and Devanie Govea; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-granchildren and numerous friends.
Pallbearers will be Lucio Govea III, Erasmo Herrera, Jr., Richard Govea, Jr., Eric Lucio Govea, Dennis Govea II, and George Govea, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Devin Quintana and Joseph Govea.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of St. David’s Hospital and to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their dedicated care.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 with Recitation of Holy Rosary being held at 6:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julia Catholic Church, 900 Tillery St. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
