Our beloved Joe Bocanegra, age 80, resident of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
Mr. Bocanegra is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Candelaria Bocanegra; Children, Zelma (Richard) Flores, Joe (Lisa) Bocanegra Jr., Victor (Debbie) Bocanegra, Gloria (Bill) Neenan, Debra (Rodney Sr.) Sustaita, Delia Bocanegra, and George (Angela) Bocanegra; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, Joe leaves to mourn his loss, his brother, John R. (Pas) Bocanegra.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eusebio and Elena Rivas Bocanegra, four brothers and two sisters.
Honored pallbearers will be grandsons, Adrian Neenan, Rodney Sustaita, Jr., Eddie Olvera, Victor Bocanegra Jr., Damian Bocanegra, and Steven Bocanegra. Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac and Wayne Bocanegra.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015 with recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home Heritage Chapel, 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E. 2nd Street, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.
