Robert Baldazo Ledesma, 71, resident of Austin, passed away on October 20, 2015 with his family at his side. Celebration of Life Service scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (SOUTH). Funeral Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2015, at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (SOUTH). Interment will follow to Assumption Cemetery Robert Baldazo Ledesma (ROB), age 71, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Rob was known for his humorous and charismatic ways. He was a dedicated husband, father, and his first priority in life was his family. He never met a stranger and once he met you he’d never forget your name. Rob is preceded in death by parents; Alvino Ledesma and Rafelita Ledesma. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Corpus Ledesma, children; Lisa Garcia (Mario), Robert C. Ledesma (Brenda), Lorie Ramirez (Daniel), Amy Medrano (Henry), AJ Ledesma, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and siblings; Ann Cuellar (Mayo), Velia Castillo (Manuel) and Ruben Banda (Isabel). Robert met the love of his life Julia in 1963 and have been happily married for 50 years. The wonderful couple recently celebrated their golden anniversary on September 26th, 2015. Julia remembers Rob as her best friend and partner, who always made her feel safe and secure. They would have long meaningful late night conversations and would find themselves talking till the sun rises. Rob graduated from AS Johnson High School in 1962. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 31 years of service. While at TXDOT he was an Electrical Engineer Technician. Upon retiring, he discovered a new passion as a comedy defensive driving instructor/trainer. Rob was an advocate of safe driving and wanted everyone to get home safe. He loved meeting new people and had a gift for entertaining any crowd. Rob would bring his friends and family to laughter with his witty sense of humor and collection of jokes. You would find him every Saturday wearing burnt orange and watching his favorite team while lifting his horns to the sky. As a young man he was a professional trumpet player, who embraced and loved music. He enjoyed being outside in his beautiful and manicured lawn, making multiple trips to the local garden centers daily. Rob loved a clean and freshly washed car and would be seen cruising the streets of Austin with the top down alongside his beautiful wife. Robert and Julia spent weeks on road trips from coast to coast, singing their favorite tunes like there wasn’t a care in the world. Before Rob’s passing he said his top 3 places were the Grand Canyon, New York City and the one and only Las Vegas. Towards the end, Rob was able to spend his precious time surrounded by his loved ones. He would always say “Que Regalo” what a gift. Robert was truly one-of-kind, and will be missed by all.
