Obituary of Toribia M. De Valadez

Please share a memory of Toribia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Toribia M. De Valadez (Mami Liva), 103 years, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family at her side. She was born to Anastacio Mendoza and Altagracia Mexicano in Guanjuato, Mexico. She married the love of her life Daniel Valadez and had 11 beautiful children.

Mami Liva’s love was overflowing radiant and immeasurable to anyone that came across her. She was faithful devoted and loving to her Catholic faith. She never ceased in her prayers. She prayed for every member in the family. Whether we realize it or not let it be known that she prayed for every one individually and exclusively. Mami Liva is the most beautiful example of living a true Christian life of faith, hope, love, and charity. She was a member of the Carmelitas, Altar y Rosario, Sagrado Corazon, Vela Perpetua, and the Guadalupanas. She loved to contribute to the church by devoting her time and cooking skills by making Gorditas at the Jamaica for about 18 years. She was welcoming, loving, and always giving by putting others before herself. She always made sure that we never left hungry and made sure that we received her blessing before we left. Mami Liva had a gift for her flowers/plants and loved to see them grow. She loved to sow small different patches of materials to make homemade blankets during her free time. She grew up illiterate, yet at the age of 80, she learned to read and write through the kindness of a stranger. Mami Liva is to our family, like a trunk is to a tree, she is the vital life giving core, center and strength to our family. Through her flows her love to nourish us all that stem off of her. There are many limbs and branches that are bonded and intertwined with each other resulting in an enormous beautiful vibrant tree, our family tree. Her love binds us all together through tradition, such as nacimientos, rosary, and her birthday celebrations; she may have left us in body but her spirit is with us. Let us continue to honor her by loving one another the way she loves us. Her love was unconditional warm radiant and prideful unselfish profound genuine and never ending.
