Alvina Rosas GutierrezAlvina Rosas Gutierrez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend passed away peacefully to her resting place to soon be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Alvina was born on February 28, 1926 in Elgin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Enriqueta Rosas, brothers, Ernesto Rosas, Cristobal Rosas, Baldomero Rosas; sisters, Nassaria Villarreal, Rebecca Rosas, Nieves Borrego, Maria Mendez, and Lucinda Pena. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John Gutierrez, son, Arthur Gutierrez (Terry), daughter, Sylvia Dianne Gutierrez, and granddaughter, Loren Kristina Gutierrez. She is also survived by sisters, Juana Samorano, Julia Rael and brother Pablo S. Rosas II. Alvina, was a free spirited, fun person. She worked part time to help put her children through private school and stayed home part time to raise her children. She liked to decorate, was very good with making original crafts, was an American Red Cross volunteer for several years and a wonderful cook. All services will be held at Mission Funeral Home, Serenity Chapel, located at 6204 South First Street, Austin, Texas. Visitation on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas. Pallbearers will be John David Gutierrez, Rene Guajardo, Abel Rosas, Rudy Rosas, Ruben Narvaez Jr., and Joe Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elias Gonzalez, Ruben Narvaez, Gilbert Cantu and Ignacio Mendez, Jr. John, Arthur & Sylvia would like to express their deepest, heartfelt gratitude to West Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, and New Century Hospice for all their loving kindness, help and support through this difficult time.
