Frances Jennell BowdoinFrances Jennell Bowdoin passed away at home moving on to the next realm of existence on February 18th, 2012 at the age of 64.
Fran was a causality of ovarian cancer after combating the disease for over 21 months. She was born and grew up in Auburn, New York where she attended the local community college, then went on to graduate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She moved to Texas with her first husband and has resided in Texas for over 40 years living in Austin, then San Antonio, and finally returning to Austin.
Fran worked at the Internal Revenue Service in both the Austin and San Antonio locations; upon her recent retirement from the department, she was accorded a proclamation, acknowledging her many contributions.
Fran was a free spirited democrat who always claimed ?she was born a democrat and would die a democrat?. She will be remembered by her many friends, colleagues, and family as the one who made it to Woodstock, who loved sitting in the sun, who enjoyed nature, music, art, who openly debated politics, and one who gave freely of her time as a volunteer.
Fran is survived by her daughter Jennell Rayos and spouse Elizabeth Livesay who both lovingly remained by Fran?s side and by her brother Jimmie Bowdoin and his wife Jenny and their sons, Jesse and Jacob and by her stepdaughter Liani Fulgencio and her grandchildren. Fran was preceded by her mother Arlene Bowdoin.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care she received from physician Dr. Lynn Knowles and nurses who provided guidance throughout this transition in Fran?s life at Texas Oncology, along with the team from Austin Hospice Services RN Karen Wegmann, LCSW Jessica Sather and Chaplin Deborah Reeves.
A celebration of Fran?s life will be held on Friday March 9th, 2012 at the Zilker Botanical Gardens in the main building/gift shop between 1PM and 4PM.
Fran also requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Capital Area Food Bank, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or Planned Parenthood.
The universe had different plans for Fran, a spiritual person that believed in the continuity of life as we see in the seasons of nature.
