Maria Luisa Garcia Our beautiful, loving wife, devoted mother (our hero), grandmother and great-grandmother, Maria Luisa Garcia, age 83, joined Our Lord in Heaven on Friday, February 17, 2012 at her home in Austin. She died with her loved ones by her side and was peaceful in the end.
Born on August 25, 1928, in La Pinta, Coahuilla, Torreon. Maria Luisa was an 11 year resident of Austin, formally of El Paso. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. She was a very loving and caring woman who loved her husband and her children very much. She loved to cook and make tortillas. She was a great influence and role model in her children?s lives. Our mother will be greatly missed by many.
Maria Luisa was preceded in death by her mother Mercedes Banda; daughters Paula Garcia, Gloria Garcia-Macias and son Antonio Garcia.
Maria Luisa is survived by her husband of 70 years Lorenzo Garcia of Austin; sons Luis (Gloria) Garcia of El Paso, Rey (Debbie) Garcia of El Paso, Rolando (Josefina) Garcia of El Paso, Jose Angel Garcia of el Paso, Lorenzo Jr. (Susan) Garcia of Austin, Carlos Garcia of Austin; daughters Maria Garcia-Montoya, Gina(Ricardo) Vega of Austin, Alicia (Jorge) Mora of El Paso, Graciela (Francisco) Zaragoza, Yvonne (Dagoberto) Garcia; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Recitation of Holy Rosary 6:00 p.m., Monday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at San Jose Catholic Church 2435 Oak Crest. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
