Richard Salinas "Tin Can Sailor" 1919-2012 Our beloved Father, Richard Salinas, age 92, a resident of Austin, Texas was called to his eternal home by our savior on February 15, 2012.
Richard Salinas was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felipe Salinas and Severa Salinas Knight. His wife Irene Terrazas Salinas and Patsy Hernandez Salinas, granddaughter Patsy Rose Martinez, his siblings Ambrosio Salinas, Cresencia Salinas, Lazaro Salinas, Aurelio Verastigue, Vincent Ortiz and Ubaldo Cortez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his eleven children, Richard Salinas Jr., Dolores Abrego and husband Alfredo, Lucille Romero and husband Albert, George Salinas and wife Patsy, Bertha Salinas, Linda Chairez and husband Israel, Juanita Medina and husband Jose, Felipe Salinas and wife Angie, Inez Lombrana and husband Pedro, Herbert Salinas, Martin Salinas and wife Lisa, His siblings Alice Segura, Jesse Ortiz, Carmen Cortez, Pete Cortez, Tony Cortez, Mary Gregg, Mary Aleman and Janie Flores.
He had 30 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbears are; George Salinas, Jesse Ortiz, Mark Martinez, Magdaleno Martinez, Dominic Salinas, Martin Salinas II, Richard Sepeda and Albert Romero.
Recitation of Rosary will be on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home-Remembrance Chapel 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street. (EAST). Mass will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., on February 18, 2012 Interment to follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
