Early on the morning of April 4, 2011, our Lord mercifully opened his arms to welcome into paradise our beloved mother, Santos Ortiz Soliz. She was born June 28, 1922, the eldest daughter of Jesus and Guadalupe Ortiz.She happily married Felipe Lopez and their union produced one son, Joseph O. Lopez. Tragedy befell her as she was left a young widow. But in 1961 she was fortunate to find love again as she married Jose S. Soliz. They welcomed two daughters, Mary Louise and Mary Catherine (Cathy). In 1970, they lovingly chose to add another son to their family with the addition of Art Gutierrez. Mother had many occupations during her lifetime. In later life she was said to be a ?homemaker?. In reality, she was our teacher. Her actions of unconditional love, kindness and faith taught volumes and inspired us all. She showed us what the world was truly meant to be like. Her home was the center of family and welcomed everyone. It was filled with laughter, faith, unconditional love and always plenty of her homemade goodness for everyone to share. No fancy things but a day at Grandma?s, Mom?s or Tia?s was always special as she made each of us feel uniquely loved. We give thanks for the many years we had our beloved mother, but her gentle kindness, loving spirit and deep faith will be truly missed by all who knew her. Her parents, husbands, Felipe Lopez and Jose S. Soliz, brothers, Hector & Eloy and sister, Dora Tristan preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Joseph & Josie Lopez, Mary Louise & Agustin Flores, Cathy & Peter Walton and Art & Shirley (Dee) Gutierrez. Grandchildren: James & Joanna Lopez, Rosalinda & Jacob Vega, Javier Lopez, David Flores, Beatrice & Anthony Guerrero, Albert Flores and Caitlyn Walton. Great-grandchildren: Marissa, Logan, Avhrum, Jessica, Jacob Jr., Alexianna & Kristianna and their mother Indi Rae, Aaden, Joe Anthony, Deandrea, Kaileo, Avery and Cosmo. Her sister: Maria (Elida) & Jesus Acevedo. Sisters in law: Geneva Ortiz, Mary Soliz, Esther Soliz, and Frances Gutierrez. Brothers in law: Avilio Soliz and Florencio Soliz. Numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved also survive her. Recitation of Holy Rosary, Wednesday at 7:00pm at Mission Funeral Home-Remembrance Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday at 10:30a.m. at Dolores Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Albert Ruiz officiating. Internment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
