Maria Teresa (Terrie) Rabago, 59, of Austin, Texas was called to heaven by her Lord on Monday, December 20, 2010. She was born in Edinburg, Texas, educated in the Edinburg Public Schools and attended Pan American University. Terrie moved to Austin and completed her degree from the University of Texas in Austin.In 1996, she became a realtor and achieved her broker?s license in 2006. Simultaneously, she worked for state government, retiring in 2006 after 25 years of service. A dedicated community advocate, fearless mentor, and giving spirit, Terrie lived a life committed to her two loving daughters, parents, cousins, friends and many community causes. Many newcomers to Austin were networked to various community organizations at her prompting. She walked among Austin?s greatest leaders, often as a precious friend and confidant. Throughout the years, Austin and her beloved Bouldin Creek Neighborhood became the second home for friends, strategy meetings, and personal events. Because of Terrie, many lifelong friendships, business partnerships, and community advocacy projects were developed. Terrie?s primary impact was her unconditional commitment to her community. She served as President and State Board Member for the Hispanic Women?s Network of Texas, Community Advisor for Kappa Delta Chi (KDX) at the University of Texas at Austin, Austin Board of Realtors, American Association of University Women, CASA Board Member, Commissioner of the Austin Historic Landmark Commission and Zoning and Platting Commission, Board Member for the Austin History Center, Mexican American State Employee Association, Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Association of Hispanic Realtors, and Board Member for Teach Quest. She was an alumnus of Leadership Texas, a writer for various publications, and a volunteer at Becker Elementary School and numerous other worthwhile causes. Terrie leaves behind her daughter Laura Coulter and husband Doug; daughter Amber Stephens and husband Roger; and grandchildren Soriah Esquivel, Dante Esquivel, Aiden Coulter, Blake Stephens, and Logan Stephens; her parents, Juan Rabago and Maria Elena Hinojosa; brothers Robert Homero Rabago, Albert Rabago, Jose Luis Rabago, and Jesse Rabago; and sisters Sandra Aguiar, Cecilia Mercado, and Eliena Hinojosa. And several close relatives and many dear friends. A celebration of the Life of Teresa Rabago will be held on Monday, Rosary 7 pm at Mission Funeral Home, Cesar Chavez, Austin, Texas. Tuesday, December 27, Mass 10 am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Austin, Texas Typical of Terrie?s life, she always left a note of optimism in the lives of those she touched. Among her favorite advice, she would say, ?Not to worry ?manita, everything will be all right?. To Terrie, we say, ?Don?t worry ?manita? you will never be forgotten.?
