Lucy Estrada Mendez was born in Austin, TX on August 4, 1921 to Sesario and Juanita Aldana Estrada. She died on October 23, 2000. Lucy is survived by her husband of 55 years Fred C. Mendez and a niece Theresa Ann Estrada, Her brothers Felix and wife Connie Estrada, Frank and wife Diana Estrada, Ernest and wife Olivia Estrada and sister Patsy Gonzales all of Austin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Sesario and Juanita Aldana Estrada and sister Mary Machado. Lucy was a person that would go out of her way to help you if you needed help. She never liked to tell you she couldn?t help you. She also was a good cook in her kitchen. She would cook a big meal around Thanksgiving and Christmas and she would invite all of her relatives to come over and eat and enjoy themselves. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Southwood Care Center and Dr. Pete Garcia M.D. for the loving care received. Recitation of rosary Thursday, 7:30pm at the Mission Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, 10am at San Jose Catholic Church. Celebrants are Father Ernesto Elizondo and Deacon Romeo Sanchez. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ernest Estrada Jr. Jeff Gonzales, Mark Gonzales, Frank (Boy) Estrada Jr., Arthur Gonzales, Robert Machado, Ruben Salinas, John Paul Estrada, and Julian M. Trevino III.
