Obituary of Rosario Lopez
Please share a memory of Rosario to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosario Lopez, our Tia Chayo, was blessed today, for she returned to God. As she entered heaven, she found that suddenly her vision, weak while on earth, was now strong. She looked around with her new eyesight and saw, in the golden light, that she was surrounded by her family. She was amazed as she was greeted by her Mother; she broke into a smile as she was greeted by her sisters Cata, Nena and Chelo; and she laughed out loud as she was hugged by her brothers Chemo and Tavo.Chayo stepped up to St. Peter, who thumbed through a large book, mumbling, ?What have we here?? St. Peter read, ?Rosario, female, no children of her own but helped raise many children of other mothers. Seems to have kept her young at heart.? St. Peter looked down at the book again, ?Loved Mexican music, loved to dance any chance she got. She also loved parties, seemed to always know everyone at any party and would walk around to every table and talk to everybody.?
St. Peter read some more from his large book and looked up, ?It says here that Chayo was a member of Christo Rey Catholic Church and a member of every church club she could join: Las Gaudalupanas, the Joy Group, the Breakfast Club and the Altar Group. She loved people and had many friends. She loved sitting on the front porch and talking to neighbors. She liked growing tomatoes and flowers. She loved animals and always had a dog or a cat.?
St. Peter focused on Chayo, ?Rosario, it looks like you had a full life, and a good one. Anything you?d like to say?? Rose responded, ?I want to thank my sister Diddie. She took care of me when I could no longer take care of myself. And I want to thank my niece Cecilia, who was a special help to me toward the end of my life. And a blessing to all my other nieces and nephews, who showed me love from the time they were first born.?
?Rosario,? St. Peter said, ?I think it?s time you walked through these pearly gates behind me.? Her family surrounded Chayo, linked arms and they all walked toward the gate. As they walked, you could hear Chayo saying, ?Do you have parties here? You know I like to dance and mingle.? Chemo laughed and replied, ?We?ve got a big party planned just for you, Chayo. A big party.?
