Dorlene Jeanette Ekstein July 22, 1929- September 1, 2010 Our very dear Dorlene Jeanette Ekstein, age 81, resident of Austin, went to be with our dear Lord Jesus on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John David Ekstein; son Wayne Allen Ekstein and daughter Vicki Jeanette Golling (Alberson).
She is survived by children, David and Dorene Ekstein, Rudy and Sheryl Contreras; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 delightful surprise great-grandchild on the way.
Dorlene was born in Norton, Kansas to Cordelia and Ellis Wyatt farmed most of their lives. Dorlene, brother Ellis Jr. and her folks moved from the ?dust bowl? region to Idaho where she met and married her husband John a career Naval officer. The couple spent tours of duty over 25 years in California, Georgia and Texas. They were married for over 59 years.
Everyone who met Dorlene adored her. She loved God, her family, church family, and her friends tenderly, sweetly, and absolutely! She was a pattern of God?s love and a model of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31. She was an inspiration to all of us and a very great blessing!
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. Monday, at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel. Internment will follow at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, Dorlene?s final request is that donations be made to Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church 1010 West FM 1626 Austin, Texas 78748 in care of her faithful minister Pastor Fick.
