Simon Cardenas Sustaita. 75, of Austin, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on June 17. 2010 after a long struggle with diabetes. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Simon was born to the late Maria de Refugio Cardenas and Antonio Sustaita on October 8, 1934 in Austin. Texas and was one of 11 children. On September 7. 1958, Simon married the love of his life Juana (Janie) Espinoza and they were married for over 51 years.He worked as an electrician for most of his life. He loved his church community at Our Lady of Guadalupe and as an example to his five sons for many years donated his time in the electrical set up for the annual OLG Jamaica. Simon was preceded in death by his parents; his infant child. Simon. Jr.; his Brothers Benito C. Sustaita. Rafael C. Sustaita, Antonio C. Sustaita; his Sisters Nicolasa S. Medrano and Maximina Sustaita. Simon is survived by his Wife Janie; his Sons Edward, Ernest, Benny and Wife Jeanne, Danny and Wife, Velia, and Abraham; 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers; Miguel C. Sustaita, Jesus C. Sustaita, Rodolfo C. Sustaita, and his Sisters; Nieves S. Cobos. all of Austin. Texas; and Simona S. Nunez of San Bruno, California. Simon was very blessed to have all family members at his side and for the countless prayers offered for him and the family during his illness. The family is very grateful to all the Doctors and Nurses who cared for our beloved Simon. We ask for continued prayers as we celebrate his life. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30pm on Sunday, June 20th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. 9th St., Austin. Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at OLG Church at 10:00a.m. on Monday. June 21St, with interment immediately following at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas.
