Our beloved Joe B. Torres, 92, of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, December 11, 2009. Preceded in death by his Parents; Timoteo and Maria Torres, one Son; Joseph Torres, 3 Brothers; George, Arthur, Jesse Torres and one Sister; Esther Acosta.Mr. Torres was a lifetime member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church, a veteran of WW II, serving his country proudly and honorably in the U.S. Army. An Austin Businessman, when from a 3rd Grade education had ventures as a Bakery Owner, Shoemaker, Restaurant Owner, Billiards Owner, Real Estate Investor, Agent and Broker.
Survived by Beloved Wife; Virginia R. Torres, his Loving Children; Henrietta Robledo(Tony), Chester H. Torres, Tony H. Torres(Becky), Annabelle Torres, Richard Torres(Bea), 2 Brothers; Freddy Torres, Tim Torres, 5 Sisters; Alicia Estrada, Angelina Sosa, Beatrice Diaz, Rebecca Mendoza, Josie Garcia, 15 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will commence at 2:00pm on Sunday with the Recitation of Holy Rosary at 6:00pm at Mission Funeral Home-Remembrance Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Jamie Mathias officiating. Internment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Castillo, Daniel Robledo, Alfredo Torres, Tony M. Torres, Jr., James Leos and Orlando Torres. Honorary Pallbearers; Vincent M. Torres and Armando Ponce.
