Our beloved mother Mary Cortez Tijerina was born March 11, 1923 and heard the calling of the Lord Thursday, October 15, 2009. She now joins her loving husband of 39 years.Mary Tijerina was born in Gonzales, Texas and as a child her parents Graciano & Mauricia Cortez relocated to Austin, Tx. where her father worked on the construction of the Capitol under TxDot. In Austin, Mary met her life long sweet heart Tony "Sone" Tijerina who has now preceded her in death. Tony and Mary Tijerina where married in July 7, 1941 until his death in August 27, 1980. Preceded in death by Sons; Joe, Lupito and Daniel Tijerina and three grand children; Robert Tijerina Jr., Becky Castruita, and Jesse Moreno Sr. Survived by her beloved children, Robert & (Susie) Tijerina, Mary Helen Robles, Audelia Castruita, Tony & (Liza) Tijerina, Nora Tijerina, Johnny & (Febe) Tijerina, John B. & (Anita) Tijerina, Bennie & (Rosario) Tijerina, Richard & (Steve Stalion) Tijerina, a Sister; Lupe Allison, 49 grand children, 107 great grand children, 23 great-great grand children. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 6:00pm at Mission Funeral Home-Remembrance Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:00am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Jamie Mathias officiating. Internment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
