Celia ?Cheka? Gomez Chapa, 75, passed away from a heart attack in the early morning of Monday, April 27th, 2009 at the age of 75 in the comfort of her East Austin Home. At the age of 63 she retired as a Certified Nurses Assistant. Her golden years were spent in her newly built home in East Austin tending to her beloved garden. Neighbors would pass by and compliment the Love and Life that she put into her garden and she would modestly reply ?Gracias?. Celia was a Mother, Grandmother, Caretaker and a friend Respected and Loved by all walks of life; human, animal, plant and spiritual alike. An avid philanthropist to the Native American Sioux Tribe of South Dakota by sending money to their local schools as well as donations to Cancer Research. She never had much to give but nonetheless she gave what she could. Born in a time of poverty and war and passes on the strength and endurance from those experiences to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Despite only having a 3rd grade education, she fought a lifelong battle to be a provider to her family needs, alas, her battle comes to a peaceful resolution. The family would like to thank the people at Shivers Caner Treatment Center at U.T. M.D. Professional Building for all their care and hospitality in Celia?s final days of life. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be on Wednesday at 7:00pm at Mission Funeral Home-Remembrance Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Rev.
