Lidia G. Watson September 4, 1917 - January 23, 2009Our beloved Lidia G. Watson, age 91, resident of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, January 23, 2009.
She is survived by her cousins Eva (Gilbert) Saldana of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Ramon (Delia) Rodriguez of Austin; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emilio and Delfina Banuelos Gonzales; grandparents Catarina (Moran) and Senovio Banuelos; brothers Reynaldo and his wife Lupe Gonzales; Virgil Gonzales; and cousins.
She married Julian Velasquez, who passed away after twenty five years of marriage. She later married Frank Watson who also preceded her in death.
Lidia was a homemaker who loved to bake, cook, and especially enjoyed making tamales during the Christmas holidays. Her faith, church, and family were her number one priority. She loved life and enjoyed being with family and friends. Lidia enjoyed participating in church and senior center activities. She volunteered working at church selling religious articles. In her younger years, Lidia enjoyed going on church and casino trips. She was a member of Cristo Rey Joy Group and Metz Senior Recreation Center. It brought great joy to her heart to be able to sing with the Joy Group.
Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Mass of Christian burial 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Lidia?s memory can be made to the Alzheimer?s Association of Austin 3429 Executive Center Drive #100 Austin, Texas 78731.
