John Flores Guerrero of Austin passed away peacefully on January 20, 2009. John was born November 24, 1922 in Bastrop County to Edio and Luisa Guerrero. His parents moved to San Antonio where John attended public schools, then ultimately moved to Austin. John was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, and upon his return home attended school to become a barber. John successfully operated Guerrero?s Barber Shop for 31 years before retiring in 1978. Some time later he ran another successful venture, operating Guerrero?s Lawn Service, retiring for the final time in 1993. He was a proud member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church for many years.
He is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 42 years, son Edio Guerrero and his wife Mary Ann, daughter Nancy Madani and her husband Jon, daughter Norma Guerrero-Jones and her husband Fred and daughter Patricia. He is also survived by step-children Joe Alvarado, George Alvarado, Robert Alvarado, Mary Alice Alvarado and spouse Juan Carlos, and Pauline Saucedo and spouse Jim. He is also survived by his sister Santos Ruiz and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Edio and Luisa Guerrero, sister Dominga Celedon, brother Wylie Guerrero, son Fernando Alvarado and daughter Josie Cuellar.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Miller and the staff at Satellite Dialysis for all their help and time in caring for him.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Saucedo, Michael Saucedo, Eric Cuellar, Adam Alvarado, Edio Andres Guerrero and Anthony Ramon. Honorary pallbearers will be John Guerrero II and Frederick David Jones Jr.
Recitation of Holy Rosary Sunday at 7:00pm at Mission Funeral Home-Remembrance Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10:00am, Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Jesse Euresti officiating. Internment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
