Sara Cardenas Garrett 1959-2008Sara Cardenas Garrett from Marshall, Texas was called to Heaven on the evening of November 28, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with lupus. Sara was born on May 5, 1959 to Cruz and Alvara Cardenas in Gonzales, Texas. Where she earned her degree in Social Services. In 1978 Sara met the love of her life Mr. Lionel Garrett and they were married 2 years later. Sara and Lionel moved to Marshall, Texas. Soon after their marriage to start a family. Sara continued her career in Social Services, where she was honored and recognized through out East Texas and Washington D.C. for her dedication and hard work with children and families in need. At times she opened her heart and home for all those who were less fortunate. She was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone she touched. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her parents Cruz Cardenas Jr. and Alvara Soto Cardenas; brother Cruz Cardenas III and daughter Sabrina Guzman. Sara leaves behind her loving husband of 28 years Mr. Lionel Garrett of Marshall, Texas.; three beautiful children Henry David Garrett (Rafaela) of Kyle, Texas., Tanya Lydell Garrett (Kevin) and Nicole Selena Garrett both of Marshall, Texas; eight beautiful grandchildren; three nieces, four nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews; Sara also leaves behind her loving sister Adele Cardenas of Kyle, Texas. Our hearts are broken as we are the one left behind, Sara will be missed dearly. She not only acquired outer physical beauty but inner beauty as well. She will be missed by all the loving souls whose lives she touched with her love, kindness and beauty. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street Private interment will follow on Sunday for family only.
