Manuel ?Tony? Martinez January 8, 1925 ? October 26, 2008 Tony was born on January 8, 1925 in Austin, Texas and was called by our Heavenly Father on October 26, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sarah Martinez; sister Teresa Segura; niece Barbara Barrientes; nephew Stephen Segura.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years Ruth Martinez; daughter Alexandria Moreno and husband Michael Moreno; sister Lenora Barrientes; grandchildren Thomas and Michael O?Scier, Alexis and Veronica Moreno; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed at Fort Sam Houston as a dental lab technician. Acquiring skills that he would later perfect as a part owner of his own dental laboratory. Tony and Ruth worked side by side together for over fifty-three years.
In October 1978, Tony joined the Knights of Columbus and Council 1017. Later when the K. of C. started a council at San Jose he transferred to Council 10148. When his son-in-law joined the K. of C. he transferred to Council 10209 at St. Paul. Tony and Ruth moved to Round Rock and he transferred to St. John Vianney Council 12148. On March 17, 1991 Tony made his 4th degree and joined Bishop Reicher Assembly 1099. He enjoyed watching football, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and his only basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs. Good food was always a must.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the support of the doctors and staff of the CCU 2nd floor at the Heart Hospital of Austin.
Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Friday at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
