Obituary of Jesus Ramirez

Jesus Segura Ramirez, 85, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. He was born on March 3, 1923, in El Paso, Texas to Esteban and Jesusita Ramirez and was one of 13 children. He was raised in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico and moved to Hereford, Texas in 1963. In 1972, he and his family moved to Austin, Texas. Mr. Ramirez will be remembered for his endless love and devotion to his family. He was an adventurous young man who traveled across the U.S. and enjoyed sharing his experiences with anyone willing to listen. His family will miss him but his memories will live on forever.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Antonia Ramirez; children, Jesus (Sylvia) Ramirez, Jr., Javier (Susie) Ramirez, Anna (Mario) Matias and Beatriz Ramirez; grandchildren, Diana Martinez, Jesse Ramirez, III, Juan Ramirez, Javier Ramirez, Jr., Victoria Ramirez, Richard Garza, Raquel Garza and Natalia Abascal; great-grandchildren, Paul Anthony Torrez, Amery Torrez, Priscilla Poorbaugh, Lilliana Ramirez, Jesse Ramirez, IV and Arianna Poorbaugh; brothers, Esteban Ramirez, Mario Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez; sisters, Catalina Ramirez Mendez, Antonia Sanchez, Eva Ramirez Gonzalez along with many other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. ? 9:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home located at 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church with burial to follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be his sons, grandsons and son-in-law.
The family would like to give special thanks to his brother, Esteban Ramirez and his wife Rita for their spiritual support. Also, special thanks to Dr. David Hayes, Dr. Rodney Horton and Dr. Pete Garcia for their knowledge of and dedication to their profession and to Stephanie Segura with Hospice Vista Care who provided compassionate care to our father and family.
