Dolores (Lola) Martinez Alvarez December 11, 1923 - August 5, 2008Today the Lord called home a wonderful person, who was there not only for her own children but also for the many she took care of and helped to raise. She was known as Mom, Buelita, Grandma, Tia and Nana to many not only her own. The Lord decided she was ready to join her husband and children who have gone before her to be with him and prepare a place for her. Dolores passed away on Tuesday August 5, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Apolinar Alvarez Sr.; son Jose Apolinar; daughter Maria Louisa; several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Faustino Martinez Sr. (Dora); Apolinar ?Paul? Alvarez Jr. (Patsy); Adolfo ?Doc? Alvarez; daughters Maria Trinidad Hernandez (Eddie); Rosa Gil, Olivia Alvarez, Virginia Alvarez, Gloria Ruedas (David) and Rachel Canales (Joe); 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother Marcos Martinez Sr.; one sister Epimenia (Bebe) Aguilera all of Austin; several brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society until her health declined; she also had a breakfast group along with her family for many years. Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Friday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Faustino Martinez Jr., Eric Gil, David Anthony Ruedas, Jonathan Carmona, Paul Ramon Alvarez, great ?grandson Jimmy Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Alvarez, Michael Ruedas and Kristopher Davila. Special thanks to her grandson Michael Ruedas for helping take care of her when his help was needed.
