Edward Lee Soza June 17, 1954 ? June 21, 2008 Edward (Ed) left us to be with his Heavenly Father and eternal rest on June 21, 2008, after a long battle with diabetes, including kidney and heart failure. He was surrounded by his family at his departure.
Ed was born at Barksdale Air Force Base, Shreveport, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife Imelda; son Daniel Antonio; his parents Tony and Ella; sisters Nanette (husband Rick Sookiasian), Nelda and his niece Victoria Anne.
Ed was raised in a military environment and had the opportunity to travel extensively. His highlight was the time spent in Ankara, Turkey. Visits to biblical and ancient historical sites were his delight. Being a Boy Scout at that time, he participated in a swimming contest from ?Asia to Europe? (across the Bosporus Straights in Istanbul). For that feat, he was awarded a special scouting medal.
Ed loved the outdoors and became an avid hunter and fisherman. He proudly displayed several deer and bass trophies. For a hobby, he was an enthusiast in building small scale models which included small scale armies, specializing in World War II.
Ed worked with and retired from the City of Austin Water Utility. He also worked with and retired from State of Texas Railroad commission.
Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at San Jose Catholic Church 2435 Oak Crest. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
The family thanks all the St. David?s Hospital Staff, especially Dr. Edith Simmons, who provided care for Edward during his prolonged illness.
