Janie Moreno Ortegon 1957- 2008On June 21, 2008, Janie Moreno Ortegon was taken to be with our Heavenly Father. She was born on November 26, 1957, in Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Zachary Joseph Moreno, her father-in-law, Raul Ortegon, Sr. and mother-in-law, Lillie T. Ortegon.
Surviving family includes husband Arturo T. Ortegon, Sr., sons: Arturo Ortegon, Jr., Jacob Ortegon, wife, Stella and Andrew Ortegon, wife Elisabeth. Granddaughter: Angelica Ortegon. Parents: Joe G. and Mary Moreno, Sr., seven sisters, four brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Janie was a very devoted wife and mother. She worked tirelessly in making sure that Arturo and her boys had everything they needed. She loved to cook and made sure there was always plenty to eat. Her latest joy in her life was playing the role of Grandmother. She truly enjoyed spending time with her ?little precious pumpkin,? Angelica.
Janie spent the past 30 years working for the State of Texas. She currently worked for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. She previously worked for the Texas Education Agency and the University of Texas.
Janie was a steward of our Lord and Savior at Dolores Catholic Church. She served on several ministries. She was a catechism teacher for children who were preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. She was the music coordinator at the 5:30 masses on Saturdays. She loved singing and listening to songs of, and for, our Lord. Janie and Arturo were Eucharistic Ministers for the sick. They were loyal to this calling every Sunday morning. They ensured that the homebound received the word of God and the Body of Christ. Janie was in the Rosary Ministry, she attended funerals and recited the Rosary on behalf of the church. Janie was always ready to serve our Lord. She believed that if it was His will, she was there.
Rosary will be held at Dolores Catholic Church at 1111 Montopolis Drive on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at Dolores Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Pallbearers are B.J. Sifuentes, Fernando Ortegon, Jr., Gilbert Martinez, Jr., J.C. Moreno, Joey Moreno and Mike Girod. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Moreno, Jr., John Moreno, Peter Moreno and Paul Moreno.
