Obituary of Lilly Rios

Lilly Mae, 66, was born November 29, 1941 in Elgin, TX was called by our Heavenly Father on April 14, 2008 in Austin, TX. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. Throughout her life, she was active in her faith through ministry groups such as Church Choir, Daughters of Mary, Rosary Crusade, Crusillistas, Guadalupanas, and the Joy Group ministries.
She retired as a supervisor for the State of Texas MHMR, and continued her work as a personal caregiver.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, gardening, cooking, and the company of her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Benito and Marie M. Gandara, two brothers Benito and Mauricio, one sister Irene Gandara. She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Ambrosio Rios; her daughters, Georgia Puente (Juan) and Irene Khan; and son, Chris Rios; and Grandchildren, John Cantu, Steven and Marissa Hernandez, and Alyssa Rios; sisters, Janie Rivera, Minerva Lopez, Margie Rodriguez, Mary Helen Gandara, and Eva Davila; sister-in-law, Mary V. Gandara; stepfather Anastacio Morales along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Recitation of Holy Rosary Thursday at 7:00pm at Mission Funeral Home, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez. Mass of Christian burial Friday at 10:00am, Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Chapel Mausoleum Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are: Peter Guerra, Paul Chapa, Jacob Davila, Ben Davila, Steven Hernandez, and Andrew Rodriguez.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Christopher House, St. David?s Hospital, Dr. Edith Simmons, and Dr. Sara Buttrey.
