Obituary of Manuel Garcia Jr.

In Loving Memory of Manuel Garcia Jr. November 24, 1948 ? April 6, 2008 Our beloved Manuel Garcia Jr., age 59, resident of Austin, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 6, 2008 in Austin after a lengthy illness was called by our Heavenly Father on April 6, 2008. His compassion and generosity were felt by us all. His passing will leave a tremendous void in our lives that can only be filled by the wonderful memories he left for us all, who shared his life and loved him.

Manuel was preceded in death by his father Manuel Garcia, Sr.; sisters Maria Juanita and Francisca Rosario Garcia.

Manuel is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gloria Ann; son Stephen Michael; mother Sra. Francisca Garcia; sisters Yolanda Velasquez (Joe), Dalia Martinez (Ernesto Liendo) and Delia Gonzales (Mario) of Austin.

He worked for 22 years at the Lower Colorado River Authority as a journeyman until his retirement in March of 2006.

Recitation of Holy Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street (South). Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at San Francisco Javier Catholic Church, with Father Gonzalo Ferrer officiating.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Tweedy, Colleen Bjerke, R.N., OCN and his wonderful staff at the Southwest Regional Cancer Center in Austin. For those who wish, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff for their endless efforts and care at St. David?s Medical Center (3C South) for their care during Manuel?s time in need.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Encarnacion Guiterrez, Mario G. Gonzales, Richard Alvarez, Joe Banda, Otillo Vallejo & Ernest Liendo.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James Pavia, Johnny Fernandez, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
