Alvina Gomez Sunrise March 31, 1905 Sunset February 17, 2008 Alvina Gomez the lone surviving member of the Alvarez family went to meet her Savior on February 17, 2008 at the age of 102. Thanks be to God for her long life. She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Salome Alvarez; brother Prajedes Alvarez; sister Epifania Vasquez; daughter San Juana Gomez and her husband Ormides. The Gomez family would like to thank the community of Cristo Rey, Girling Hospice, caregivers Maria Acosta, Victoria Careaga, Nicole Rodela, Jennifer Vallejo, Mary Lou Pena, Antoinette Collins, all neighbors and friends for all their help and support. Alvina Gomez was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, Las Rositas De La Comunidad De Seton-East, Metz Senior Citizen Group, The Travis County Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a life long member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Survivors of Alvina include her daughters Ms. Isabel Gonzales, Mrs. Feliz Martinez (Rudy), Mrs. Vicenta Nino (Jesse), Mrs. Margaret Arriaga (Rigo); sons Mr. Victor Gomez (Minnie), Mr. Jesse Gomez (Guadalupe), Mr. Roy Gomez (Mary Helen); 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 21 great- great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild, all of Austin. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., Cristo Rey Catholic Church 103 Robert Martinez St. Mrs. Gomez will lie in state beginning at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Michael Gomez, David Gomez, Ray Nino, Mario Gonzales, Albert Martinez and Pete Kokkinos.
