Obituary of Salvador Arriaga

Our beloved Salvador B. Arriaga, age 82, resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on October 18, 2006. Preceded in death by his beloved Wife; Mary Arriaga, and a Son; Edward Arriaga. Mr. Arriaga was retired from the State of Texas Purchasing Department as a carpenter cabinet maker, was the first Hispanic President for the St. Vincent's de Paul Society. Mr. Arriaga served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II and retired from the U.S. Army National Guard, rank of Sgt. First Class, serving his country proudly and honorably.
Survivors include: Beloved Children Salvador Arriaga, Jr. (Elida), Diana Larson (Larry), Felix Ray Arriaga (Kari), Sonya Marie Rodriguez (Fredy) and Gilbert Dominic Arriaga (Shari); Sister; Rosa Arriaga, 2 Brothers; Jesse Arriaga (Susie) and Reyes Arriaga (Margaret), beloved Grandchildren; Israel, Naomi, Fredy Jr., Robert, Eddie, Alexandra, Caty and Emma; Great-Grandchildren; Dominic, Brittni, Armand, Hailey, Carly, Tayler Anne, Vita-Ayanna and Isaiah Jordan.
The Arriaga family express their gratitude to Girling Hospice Austin, nurses Marlene and Donna for the care, love and comfort given to Mr. Arriaga.
Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00pm Sunday at the Remembrance Chapel-Mission Funeral Home(Cesar Chavez). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00am Monday at St. Julia's Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. John Boiko officiating. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum with full military honors.
Serving as pallbearers are Fredy Rodriguez, Sr., Robert P. Rodriguez, Fredy Rodriguez, Jr., Israel Cortinas, Eddie Arriaga and Mike Hopkins..
