Obituary of Benito Valdez

Benito ?Benny? L. Valdez, age 56, went home to be with our heavenly father on Saturday, June 3, 2006. He was born May 27, 1950 to Valentine and Juanita Valdez in Austin, Texas.He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rodolfo Rodriguez and Arturo Valdez, and his first born son, Valentine Valdez.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 37 years, Adelina Valdez. They were married on October 26, 1968. During the final years of his life he spent his days sharing his love, comfort, and humor with his wife.
He is also survived by his daughter, Candi Acosta and her husband Nick Acosta III, his sons, Adam Valdez and his wife Stephanie Valdez, and Tino Valdez and his wife Audrey Valdez. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Zuniga, Jonathan, Leslie and Skylar Valdez, and Destiny Valdez. Also surviving are 5 sisters: Rosita Villanueva (Manuel), Virginia Valdez (Joe), Delia Rodriguez, Diana Milicia (Francisco), Linda Saez (George) and numerous nieces and nephews.
His favorite pastimes were fishing, enjoying the outdoors, and listening to music. He was a fan of the University of Texas Longhorns. The child in him could be seen when he was in the presence of his grandchildren.
Benny is a retiree of the University of Texas at Austin. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend who lived everyday with a smile and sense of humor. His laughter, love and friendship will be missed by all.
Serving as pallbearers are Manuel Villanueva Sr., Manuel Villanueva Jr., Daniel Sepeda, Manuel Sepeda, Sam Davila, Eli Adams, Ray Castro, Jose Villanueva.
Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Rufus Ruedas and Manuel Ruedas.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends Rufus Ruedas and Manuel Ruedas for their commitment and friendship to Benny and his family. To Manuel and Rosita Villanueva and their family for guidance, Virginia Valdez who spent the last 5 years caring for him and his most precious gift, his wife. To Diana Milicia for her support and love to Benny and his family. Thank you to South Austin Hospital staff, Travis County EMS and Susan Flores.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Remembrance Chapel-Mission Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1: 00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. J.C. Cain, O.M.I. will be officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
