Our Beloved Daniel Marmolejo Gonzales was born on September 4, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas to Juanita Musquez Marmolejo and Jose Montoya Gonzales, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2006. Preceded in death by his Great-Grandson; Elias Sanchez, Jr., Parents; Juanita M. and Jose Gonzales and a Brother; Joe M. Gonzales. He graduated from Luther Burbank High School in May 1941. He attended Eastern New Mexico University, New Mexico. Dan retired from the U.S. Air Force as M/Sgt. Served in World War II, Korea and Viet Nam. A member of St. Julia?s Catholic Church, active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Chairman of the building committee and V.F.W. Buddy Poppy Programs. Served as Post Commander 1988-1989, and as post Chaplain, County Council, and district 28 levels. He was also active in the Scouting program having served as Scoutmaster in San Antonio and Austin, Texas and in Roswell, New Mexico. Survived by his beloved Wife of 64 years, Mary Vivian S. Gonzales, Daughters; Vivian LaFuente and husband Raymond, Patty Thoene and husband Clayton, Sons; Daniel R. Gonzales and wife Natalie, Robert L. Gonzales and wife Marjolene, Albert C. Gonzales and wife Gloria, Brothers; Ignacio Gonzales and wife Ann, and Richard Gonzales and wife Annabelle, Brother-in-Law; Andrew J. Samo, Jr., Sister-in-Law; Annie Samo, 15 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Recitation of Holy Rosary Wednesday at 7:00pm, Remembrance Chapel-Mission Funeral Home(Cesar Chavez). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00am at St. Julia?s Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. John Boiko officiating. Committal services with full military honors will be held at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Post Commander Ray Carlin and members of the V.F.W. Pilot Knob Post 8925 and V.F.W. County Council Honor Guard. As per family request, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to St. Julia?s Catholic Church, 3010 Lyons Rd., Austin, Texas and the V.F.W. Post 8925, P.O. Box 18926, Austin, Tx. 78760.
