Born April 3, 1961 in Gainesville, FL, to Philip and Elinor (Houck) Dickinson, Dave attended school in Rockville, MD and Harker Heights, TX before moving to Fairfax, VA in 1976. He was a 1979 graduate of Robinson Senior High School in Fairfax. He earned a Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University in 1987 followed by a Masters of Business Administration in Production Management in 1992.
In 1987, he married Lynne Fratus in College Station, TX. After graduation he worked in production management for aluminum window manufacturers in Bryan, TX, Holt, MI and Dallas, TX. In 2000 they moved to Austin and he worked in information technology for Commemorative Brands, Inc.
Dave was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin. He was a founding member and tribe leader of the YMCA Adventure Guides, Sioux Tribe. He enjoyed water skiing, camping, wood working and spending time with his family. He loved his girls, Lynne, Katie and Kristi, more than anything else in the world. A kind man, always willing to help a friend with any kind of project, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne Dickinson; two daughters, Katie Dickinson and Kristi Dickinson of Austin; parents, Philip and Elinor Dickinson of Fairfax, VA; three sisters, Dona Dickinson of Vienna, VA, Teri Dickinson of Lucas, TX and Julie Cochran of Fairfax, VA and their spouses; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 5226 W William Cannon Dr Austin, TX 78749 at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Service will be officiated by Pastor Larry Coulter.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd #100 Austin, TX 78759 or Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the people at Hospice Austin, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and St. David?s Hospital who were so kind and caring during Dave?s illness and to the many co-workers, friends and church members who have been so supportive.
