Whenever there was a moment of need you were there greeting us with open arms. You taught us all right from wrong and led us down the path of righteousness. You would not have had it any other way, blazing a path and reserving our places in heaven next to you. Until we meet again, remember we all love you. He was preceded in death by parents Juan and Concepcion Hernandez and children Ernest and Teresa. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary R. Hernandez of 60 years; daughters Mary Ann Grappo (Joe) of Austin, Texas, Connie Galindo (Tony) of Wimberley, Texas; sons Gil Hernandez (Lucy) of Buda, Texas, Johnny R. Hernandez of Austin, Texas, Eugene Hernandez (Teresa) of Austin, Texas, Captain, US Army Paul A. Hernandez (Raquel) of Oahu, Hawaii and Joe Alvarado (Lillie) of Irving, Texas and 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Recitation of rosary will be Monday, January 23rd, 7pm at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (south). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 24th, 10am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Father Larry Mattingly will officiate. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Martinez Jr., Michael Martinez, John A. Galindo III, J.J. Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez and Eric Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Rico Hernandez, Paul A. Hernandez, Dominic Hernandez and Chris Hernandez. A special thanks to all the caregivers at St. David South Austin Hospital Intensive Care Unit for the outstanding care our beloved father received.
